Aaron -Thank you - this is a beautiful post. I wish they taught this in grade school. Just this one concept could save so many relationships. It seems we all forget that our beloved has some life experiences that hurt them deeply and we are too proud to share the ones that hurt us. If we could just do that when we are upset, life would be so much easier. Thanks for the reminder.

I respect and appreciate all organizations like NIMH for their efforts in helping people with mental illness. NIMH has certainly done much in their efforts towards mental health awareness, and helped masses of people along the way. That being said, I am not sure I agree with or see a need to shorten a questionnaire that is designed to help prevent a suicide.

We have fast food for our seemingly so fast lives, do we really need a faster quiz attempting to identify a person as a suicidal risk? I say we leave no potential helpful question in identifying a person at risk for suicide out of the questionnaire.

Bullying although maybe not as major a predictor for suicide as others, it is a contributing factor to suicide sometimes. I am hoping I misunderstood the purpose of this study.

"Horowitz and her colleagues wanted to figure out whether a far shorter list of questions could come close to matching the SIQ for catching kids at risk for attempting suicide".

Let's add to the list, let's make a better list if possible!

A very informative and easily understood explanation of "anger management" of a sort. I was always interested in working as a therapist or a similar role, but I opted for a different career. I am still fascinated by people's behaviour and the therapist's role to improve and change it. This blog really demonstrate to me how much knowledge and experience a therapist needs to do so with success.

Aaron - this is a beautiful post, and so helpful this time of year when so many of us are gathering with siblings and parents. There are multitudes of layered patterns and hurts that emerge during these events. You have no idea how much you have helped me with a situation that has stymied me for decades. Thank you.

Holiday Blessings. And may the New Year bring you and yours great happiness.
